We are inspired and engaged every day by the work we do with partners and peers in addressing tech and digital challenges and opportunities for making the world a better, safer and more just place to be. We also value being able to take the time as a team to explore more deeply the things that matter to us individually and collectively – and to think about the futures we are trying to build as a team and with others.Our annual Deep Dive Week zine, our monthly Futures podcast and our Tips and How-To videos reflect some of this and we hope you will take the time to explore them.
Deep Dive Week Zines
Each year The Engine Room holds our Deep Dive Week, a dedicated time for learning and exploration, away from our day-to-day work. We all carry around ideas, curiosities, and inspirations that often get pushed aside: articles we’ve been meaning to re-read, podcasts queued up, a mountain of open tabs to get through, art to experience, and the recommendations from friends and colleagues. Deep Dive Week gave us space to engage with those things.
These are challenging times for civil society organizations, which makes it more important than ever to dive deeply into what motivates, inspires, and energizes us. Each year we publish a zine so we can share our experiences and thinking with our partners, supporters, and communities. We hope it brings you some of the same lightness, curiosity and playfulness that it gives us
The Engine Room’s Futures Podcast
The Futures Podcast is a special series created as part of The Engine Room’s 15-year anniversary. The focus is on the futures we are (re)imagining as a team. It is a space to capture and share the voices, reflections and ideas of people across the team.
We think about futures in a variety of ways. They can be what’s way out ahead that lets our imaginations run wild or something more proximate and pragmatic. It can also be thinking about the ecosystems within which we move, the ideas and dreams of communities or tangible areas of work closer to “home.”
